Subject [jira] [Updated] (HDFS-7839) Erasure coding: move EC policies from file header to XAttr

Zhe Zhang updated HDFS-7839:
----------------------------
    Attachment: HDFS-7839-000.patch

Initial patch to demonstrate the logic. A couple of questions I think we need more brainstorming:
# Should we allow an EC zone to be created under an existing EC zone? For example, if /dir1
has an EC zone configured, should we allow /dir1/dir2 to be configured as an EC zone with
a different schema?
# Should we allow EC files to exist without a zone? For example, an originally replicated
file converted to EC
# Do we need a similar structure as {{EncryptionZoneManager}} allowing more advanced operations
like listing all EC zones (will an admin ever want to see that)? I think we eventually need
such a manager, at least to manage the list of supported schemas. [~andrew.wang] Could you
share some advice here?
