Colin Patrick McCabe commented on HDFS-6880:
--------------------------------------------

bq. Colin Patrick McCabe thanks for your comments! We need granularity as you say especially
for tracing in daemons, in deployed cluster, without source code modification, by not only
core developers but administrators and app developers. That should be the primary topic of
HDFS-6881 and following up JIRAs

Sure. I filed HDFS-7054 to make the tracing more fine-grained in DFSOutputStream. Actually,
this is something that I'd like to work on, if it makes sense to you guys.

Similarly, I filed HDFS-7055 add tracing to DFSInputStream-- we don't have to do it all in
this JIRA.

So the remaining comments that I think we should address before committing this JRIA (HDFS-6880)
are:
* Op#RELEASE_SHORT_CIRCUIT_FDS and Op#REQUEST_SHORT_CIRCUIT_SHM should also have tracing.
* Avoid adding the sleep to the test... instead, use GenericTestUtils#waitFor.
