This is an interesting idea but ZK ephemeral nodes rely on session semantics. Would the HDFS
equivalent be close-on-delete, lease == session? Perhaps it can be done generically for all
types of files on all media by implementing delete-on-close with refcounting. You could imagine
a file marked delete-on-close open for append, with multiple readers tailing data behind the
writer. Once the writer and all readers close the file it could be garbage collected.
