Subject [jira] [Updated] (HDFS-5029) Token operations should not block read operations
Date Wed, 04 Sep 2013 21:23:52 GMT

Daryn Sharp updated HDFS-5029:
------------------------------

    Attachment: HDFS-5029.2.patch

Reverted to very simple write->read lock changes in FSN.

Updated test to reflect that in combination with HADOOP-9930, both FSN read operations and
token operations for distinct tokens may execute concurrently.

Will submit patch after HADOOP-9930 is integrated.

> Token operations unnecessarily obtain the write lock on the namespace. Edits for token
operations are independent of edits for other namespace write operations, and the edits have
no ordering requirement with respect to namespace changes.
