Subject [jira] [Created] (HDFS-4493) webhdfs fails after SPNEGO token expires
Date Tue, 12 Feb 2013 21:49:13 GMT
Daryn Sharp created HDFS-4493:

Summary: webhdfs fails after SPNEGO token expires
                 Key: HDFS-4493
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-4493
             Project: Hadoop HDFS
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: webhdfs
    Affects Versions: 2.0.0-alpha, 0.23.0, 3.0.0
            Reporter: Daryn Sharp
            Priority: Critical

Webhdfs assumes that SPNEGO's {{AuthenticationException}} is always fatal. The exception
is thrown if authentication truly fails due to bad credentials, _but_ it's also thrown when
the auth token expires after 10h. The retry policies are short-circuited and the fs becomes
unusable which is unsuitable for long running processes/daemons.
