I thought that hardlinks to directories are not typically supported.  HSF+ on the mac is the
only one I know of that allows it.  I am nervous about implementing an upgrade path that will
only work on a Mac.  Did you actually mean a symbolic link, or did you intend to hardlink
all of the files in the directories?
