Subject [jira] [Commented] (HDFS-3567) Provide a way to enforce clearing of trash data immediately
Date Wed, 27 Jun 2012 04:12:44 GMT

Harsh J commented on HDFS-3567:

I thought of {{dfsadmin}} being the only target that can have this, given that other FS (local,
for ex.) don't have an 'admin' layer. This sort of targets the Emptier thread run at the NameNode,

We can move it to common if that makes more sense.

> Key: HDFS-3567
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-3567
> Project: Hadoop HDFS
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: name-node
> Affects Versions: 3.0.0
> Reporter: Harsh J
> Priority: Minor
> As discussed at http://search-hadoop.com/m/r1lMa13eN7O, it would be good to have a dfsadmin
sub-command (or similar) that admins can use to enforce a trash emptier option from the NameNode,
instead of waiting for the trash clearance interval to pass. Can come handy when attempting
to quickly delete away data in a filling up cluster.
