Well that was an almost :) Don't know the specifics of your Jackson&Avro affair, but I'd
say that issues in a particular platform because of a particular version of a JAR are exceptions.
Most of the time that happens because the code in the JAR does something that is platform
dependent or the JDK behaves different (take the case of URLs doing 'file://foo', that works
in some OSes and in others doesn't)
