Subject [jira] [Commented] (HDFS-2792) HA: Make fsck work
Date Sat, 04 Feb 2012 01:07:53 GMT

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-2792?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13200231#comment-13200231

Todd Lipcon commented on HDFS-2792:

- Can you move the changes in DFSUtil to another patch? They seem unrelated
- You're importing org.mortbay.log.Log in DFSck - probably not what you want
- Can you clarify this comment a little?
+ // Derive the nameservice ID from the filesystem connection. The URI may
+ // have been provided by a human, the server name may be aliased, or there
+ // may be multiple possible actual addresses (e.g. in an HA setup) so
+ // compare InetSocketAddresses instead of URI strings, and test against both
+ // possible variants of RPC address.
I'm not sure what "both possible variants of the RPC address" means here.
- Since your test doesn't write any actual data, I don't think you need to start any datanodes.
Also no need to add {{waitSafeMode(false)}}

> Currently `hadoop fsck' works, if one specifies an FS explicitly using the generic option
"-fs". It will fail with an op-category check if one specifies the address of the standby
NN. It will fail if one does not specify an FS.
