Subject [jira] [Commented] (HDFS-1901) Fix TestHDFSCLI and TestDFSShell
Date Fri, 06 May 2011 17:54:03 GMT

Daryn Sharp commented on HDFS-1901:
-----------------------------------

Path output is wildly inconsistent in the various commands. Given the cmdline arg "hdfs:///dir/file"
some commands want to output:

hdfs://default-authority/dir/file
hdfs:///dir/file
hdfs:/dir/file
hdfs://authority-from-D-opt/dir/file
/dir/file

If -Dfs=authority is given on the cmdline, then some commands want to output it in the path,
others don't, some don't if the glob expands to 1 path, but do if the glob expands to multiple
paths, etc. Sometimes it's inconsistent just depending on the error.

The errors for the FsShell commands should reflect exactly what was given on the cmdline.

> The FsShell redesign is likely to break tests until the all the commands are integrated.
The commands are not functionally broken. The output is formatted slightly different due
to variations/inconsistencies in the output which will be standardized.
