Uma Maheswara Rao G commented on HDFS-1609:
-------------------------------------------

*Cat command behaviour in Linux:*

 linux222:/home/hadoop/bin # cat test.*
   content in test file
 linux222:/home/hadoop/bin # echo $?
   0
 linux222:/home/hadoop/bin # cat test.* nonexist*
   content in test file
cat: nonexist*: No such file or directory
 linux222:/home/hadoop/bin # echo $?
   1
 linux222:/home/hadoop/bin # cat nonexist*
cat: nonexist*: No such file or directory
 linux222:/home/hadoop/bin # echo $?
   1
 linux222:/home/hadoop/bin #

Here the issue in our filesystem, when we give nonexist path with *, we will not get any error
message on console. In this case we will get globstatuslength will be zero.

After handling the above condition (globstatuslength == 0 ) we can get that message on non
matching directory with *.

> When we give invalid directory path then it will show error message on the console. But
if we provide the wildcard expression in invalid directory path then it will not show any
error message even there is no pattern match for that path.
> linux-9j5v:/home/hadoop-hdfs-0.22.0-SNAPSHOT/bin # ./hdfs dfs -rmr /test/test
> rmr: cannot remove /test/test: No such file or directory.
