Which sounds good, removing it entirely or just removing the jars that are checked in? Do
you guys still use the thrift API?

It contains libthrift.jar, which we should get via ivy,  and hadoopthriftapi.jar which is
a checked in (out of date?) binary of the generated java code. This file could probably be
removed entirely.
