Have you considered merely increasing the heap size? Switch to a no-pause GC collector, one
of them lies therein: http://www.managedruntime.org/  Right now a machine can have 256 GB
of ram for ~ $10,000.  That is a 4x increase over what we have now.  Added bonus: no additional
complexity!
