I don't see the patch. And I don't know how the RPC *alone* can enable the functionality.
I think this discussion should go on within HDFS-1171, where you can make a case as Sanjay
suggested for introducing the RPC, which has never been done yet. What is wrong with adding
the call in HDFS-1171?
