Subject [jira] Commented: (HDFS-964) hdfs-default.xml shouldn't use hadoop.tmp.dir for dfs.data.dir
Date Fri, 23 Apr 2010 21:49:51 GMT

Allen Wittenauer commented on HDFS-964:

Err, changes dfs.datanode.data.dir to reference /tmp instead of hadoop.tmp.dir. You know
what I mean. :)

> This question/problem pops up all the time. Can we *please* eliminate hadoop.tmp.dir's
usage from the default in dfs.data.dir. It is confusing to new people and results in all
sorts of weird accidents. If we want the same value, fine, but there are a lot of implied
things by the variable re-use.
