You can set the dfs.data.dir config value to a separate directory from the
hadoop.tmp.dir. By default, the value of this variable is set to
"file://${hadoop.tmp.dir}/dfs/data", which is why the HDFS data blocks were
put there as a subdirectory of the hadoop.tmp.dir.
