Hi,

As far as I know there this Jira:
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-1700
and a dozen classes that relate to file upgrading in the package
org.apache.hadoop.dfs
of the source code
But it seems it is not yet a fully functional write-append.
