It seems that hadoop 0.14.2 by default will read the config files in hadoop-0.14.2-core.jar but not the ${HADOOP_HOME}/conf directory. setting enviornment variables of HADOOP_HOME or HADOOP_CONF_DIR won't help either. Only by invoking with the --config parameter can I force it to read from another directory. Is this the expected behavior ? Regards, Cedric
