Steve Loughran commented on HADOOP-16179:
-----------------------------------------

* usual JIRA items: component; affects, target versions
* this isn't going to affect minikdc is it?

I'm happy with this in a 3.x release; we've always stated "we reserve the right to change
dependencies", though the goal is to try and cause as little grief as possible. compared by
the commons-lang3 update forced on us by JDK evolution, this will be minor

> The hadoop-common pom currently has a dependency on kerb-simplekdc. In fact, the only
classes used from Kerby are in kerb-core and kerb-util (which is a transitive dependency frmo
kerb-core). Depending on kerb-simplekdc pulls a bunch of other unnecessary classes into the
hadoop-common classpath.
