Subject [jira] [Commented] (HADOOP-15190) Use Jacoco to generate Unit Test coverage reports

Allen Wittenauer commented on HADOOP-15190:
-------------------------------------------

bq. Yetus also supports Jacoco? Apache HBase is using Jacoco AFAIK.

Nope. Yetus currently doesn't (directly) support any code coverage tools. HBase might have
added their own Yetus code to support it though.

bq. hadoop-coverage folder is only used for aggregated reports since Jacoco does not have
a direct way to produce an aggregated multi-module report.

That seems like a pretty big (and surprising!) negative. The maven modules are rarely updated
(again: not press release work) and I'd be concerned about stuff falling though the cracks.

> Currently Hadoop is using maven-clover2-plugin for code coverage, which is outdated.
And Atlassian open-sourced clover last year so license cannot be purchased although we can
switch to use the license-free version called "openclover".
> This Jira is to replace clover with Jacoco, which is actively maintained by the community.
