Subject [jira] [Updated] (HADOOP-14181) Add validation of DynamoDB region
Date Tue, 14 Mar 2017 22:28:41 GMT

Sean Mackrory updated HADOOP-14181:
    Attachment: HADOOP-14181-HADOOP-13345.002.patch

Attaching a patch that expresses my passionate disdain for invalid regions to a lesser degree.
I simply diffed patch .002. against patch .001. to verify the string contents was the only
change, but I had run 'mvn verify -Ddynamo -Ds3guard' and 'mvn verify' against the .001. patch
and the only failure I saw was HADOOP-14036.

> Add validation of DynamoDB region

> Key: HADOOP-14181
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-14181
> Project: Hadoop Common
> Issue Type: Sub-task
> Components: fs/s3

> Currently you can configure a nonsensical AWS region for DynamoDB and it doesn't stop
you - it'll just start using another region silently. I propose that we just check it's a
valid region for the current SDK and throw an exception instead of proceeding.
