Steve Loughran commented on HADOOP-12910:
-----------------------------------------

I believe the reason for branch-2 is that it gives hive an immediate speedup in some operations.
This isn't end-user code; while it'll have to be reworked for any branch 3 release, that's
something the Hive team will have to recognise.

> You need to change your architecture to SEDA or TPC if you want to write real high performance
asynchronous program.

Noted. SEDA I've heard of. TPC? what's that?

> Add a new API, namely FutureFileSystem (or AsynchronousFileSystem, if it is a better
name). All the APIs in FutureFileSystem are the same as FileSystem except that the return
type is wrapped by Future, e.g.
> {code}
>   //FileSystem
>   public boolean rename(Path src, Path dst) throws IOException;
>   //FutureFileSystem
>   public Future<Boolean> rename(Path src, Path dst) throws IOException;
> {code}
> Note that FutureFileSystem does not extend FileSystem.
