Steve Loughran commented on HADOOP-11505:
-----------------------------------------

seems ok.

one question, HADOOP-10846 uses {{#include <byteswap.h>}} to get some powerpc byte swapping,
though that has its own issues, needing to be omitted on windows.

it may make sense to make the bswap code here something in the core, where x86, arm and fallback
swapping is all in one place.

> hadoop-mapreduce-client-nativetask fails to use x86 optimizations in some cases. Also,
on some alternate, non-x86, non-ARM architectures the generated code is incorrect. Thanks
to Steve Loughran and Edward Nevill for finding this.
