Subject [jira] [Commented] (HADOOP-9670) Use a long to replace NfsTime
Date Mon, 16 Sep 2013 17:06:52 GMT

Haohui Mai commented on HADOOP-9670:

An NfsTime instance has to be serialized into a XDR tuple (i.e., (seconds, nanoseconds)) when
it crosses the network wire. It seems to me that it is more efficient to keep both values
in the memory rather than performing a division and a modularization during serialization.

smaller memory footprint.
