I verified that this works correctly by applying my fair scheduler queue metrics changes and observing that both the superclass and subclass metrics appear in a pseudo-distributed cluster.  Also, for posterity, the reason we are writing our own getDeclaredFieldsIncludingInherited is that Class#getFields only returns public fields and Class#getDeclaredFields returns all fields, but not inherited fields.
