Alejandro Abdelnur updated HADOOP-9117:
---------------------------------------

    Attachment: HADOOP-9117.patch

PREVIEW PATCH

A protoc plugin would take care of this and clean up a bit the POMs.

Because the plugin is not avail in a maven repo, you need to install it locally first.

The plugin source is avail at:

   https://github.com/tucu00/hadoop-maven-plugins

After cloning it, running 'mvn install' will install it locally.

The attached patch is showing how things for HDFS, doing the same for YARN would be straight
forward.

I'll do this in case the idea sticks..

> The protoc compiler is currently invoked using ant plugin exec. There is a bug in the
ant plugin exec task which does not consume the STDOUT or STDERR appropriately making the
build to stop sometimes (you need to press enter to continue).
