Robert Joseph Evans commented on HADOOP-8559:
---------------------------------------------

Durai,

I agree that having PMML support on top of Hadoop is a great thing, but my concern is with
the maintainability and scope of this request. Most of the people who contribute to Hadoop
proper have a systems background. Granted there are quite a few of us that also have dabbled
in Machine Learning, but not nearly as many as on Mahout. It is somewhat like asking the
Linux Kernel project to also maintain a PMML library, they could probably do it, but is it
the right group of people to properly maintain it and does it even fit in with the project's
goals? For Hadoop proper I would say no it does not fit with out goals, but it sounds like
it would fit perfectly with Mahout's goals.

> Would like to request a support for PMML. With that once the predictive models are built
and provided in PMML format, we should be able to import into hadoop cluster for scoring.
