Subject [jira] [Commented] (HADOOP-7642) create hadoop-dist module where TAR stitching would happen

Aaron T. Myers commented on HADOOP-7642:
----------------------------------------

I didn't actually look at the code, but I did test the functionality. I ran {{`mvn -Pnative
-Pdist -Dtar -DskipTests clean package'}} and set {{HADOOP_HOME}} to "{{hadoop-dist/target/hadoop-0.24.0-SNAPSHOT}}".
I then was able to start up an NN and DN using {{`hdfs <data|name>node'}} and successfully
run {{`hadoop fs -ls /'}}.

So, the change seems functionally good to me, but some maven guru (wink, Tucu, wink) should
probably review the code.

> Instead having a post build script that stitches common&hdfs&mmr, this should
be done as part of the build when running 'mvn package -Pdist -Dtar'
