Subject [jira] [Commented] (HADOOP-7362) Create a Lock annotation to document locking (hierarchies) for methods
Date Tue, 07 Jun 2011 12:01:00 GMT

Arun C Murthy commented on HADOOP-7362:

bq. This would be very nice for developers inspecting whether a method of a class(or its inheritors)
have a lock or not.

Precisely - it will aid developers to understand and reason locking, and serve as a documentation

I hope, eventually, we can tie this to a tool to do static/dynamic analysis e.g. jcarder.

OTOH, is there an existing mechanism we should be using in-lieu of the proposed annotation?
