Subject [jira] Commented: (HADOOP-6244) Improvements to FileContext metrics output formatting
Date Mon, 14 Feb 2011 14:36:57 GMT

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-6244?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12994314#comment-12994314

Steve Loughran commented on HADOOP-6244:

OK, I'll try it as is, though probably name it something other than "newstyle", as two years
from now when someone wants to add a third style, they will not be so impressed. It's like
those Com Interfaces with ExEx at the end or Pont Neuf in Paris...

Given this is targetd at collectl, is there a formal definition of the format it likes, or
is it just a matter of having the right regexp at the parser end?

> Key: HADOOP-6244
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-6244
> Project: Hadoop Common
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: metrics
> Affects Versions: 0.22.0
> Reporter: Todd Lipcon
> Assignee: Steve Loughran
> Attachments: hadoop-6244.txt
> The output of FileContext has two big issues: 1) it doesn't include a timestamp, 2) it
doesn't differentiate between tags and metrics in formatting. This patch is to improve the
output format to be more useful.
