Andrew Ryan commented on HADOOP-6590:
-------------------------------------

I was one of the reviewers for the internal patch that went out here at FB, and its working
well for us.

I don't have any access to Solaris or Windows systems, or how the bash script stuff is handled
on those systems, so I don't know if this would pass muster on them.

But the overall idea is definitely a good one.

> We experienced a case that sometimes we accidentally started HDFS or MAPREDUCE with root
user. Then the directory permission will be modified and we have to chown them. It will be
nice if there can be a username checking in the hadoop-daemon.sh script so that we always
start with the desired username.
