Subject [jira] Commented: (HADOOP-6200) glue together the different projects to make local builds easier
Date Tue, 25 Aug 2009 15:29:59 GMT

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-6200?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12747461#action_12747461

Steve Loughran commented on HADOOP-6200:

Actually, it turns out to really be a cycle. the hadoop-hdfs.init target requires hadoop-mapred
to exist, because it unzips the webapps.
    <unzip src="${lib.dir}/hadoop-mapred-${hadoop-mr.version}.jar"
        <include name="webapps/**"/>

_you cannot build hdfs without mapred, you cannot build mapred without hdfs_
 Therefore, the graph of build dependencies is not technically acyclic.

> It's currently fairly tricky to get everything building/up to date in a single machine.
We can and should improve this.
