Subject [jira] [Created] (HADOOP-15654) wasb client "java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Self-suppression not permitted" in close()
Date Tue, 07 Aug 2018 00:28:00 GMT
Steve Loughran created HADOOP-15654:

Summary: wasb client "java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Self-suppression not
permitted" in close()
                 Key: HADOOP-15654
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-15654
             Project: Hadoop Common
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: fs/azure
    Affects Versions: 3.2.0
            Reporter: Steve Loughran

On a test on a network connection which is clearly overloaded (parallel D/L of hadoop 3.1
JARS, 8 test threads active), got an exception
[ERROR] testMetricsOnBigFileCreateRead(org.apache.hadoop.fs.azure.metrics.ITestAzureFileSystemInstrumentation)
 Time elapsed: 71.585 s <<< ERROR! java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Self-suppression
not permitted
	at java.lang.Throwable.addSuppressed(Throwable.java:1043)
	at java.io.FilterOutputStream.close(FilterOutputStream.java:159)
	at org.apache.hadoop.fs.azure.NativeAzureFileSystem$NativeAzureFsOutputStream.close(NativeAzureFileSystem.java:1058)
This seems to imply that an exception was called with initcause==self. I don't see how the
codepath would permit that though
