yes you can upload files directly into HDFS using web interface, this
facility is provided by *HUE* (It is sub project of cloudera hadoop)


*Hue is a web based UI for hadoop, provide following features:*

1.       Beeswax (Hive UI)

2.       File browser

3.       Job designer

4.       Job browser
User admin
