Craig Macdonald commented on HADOOP-3754:
-----------------------------------------

Some questions/comments:

 * Would it be desirable that the thrift API reflects in some way the libhdfs API?
** See also HADOOP-3264 (libhdfs does not provide permissions in API)
 * How is open for write, open for append signalled in the API?

> Thrift is a cross-language RPC framework. It supports automatic code generation for a
variety of languages (Java, C++, python, PHP, etc) It would be nice if HDFS APIs are exposed
though Thirft. It will allow applications written in any programming language to access HDFS.
