Owen O'Malley commented on HADOOP-3343:
---------------------------------------

You should also probably track how many tasks it has run, how many failed, how many jobs blacklisted
it, and when it was last heard from.

> Replace Strings with Objects for representing the slaves in the JobTracker.

> Currently the JobTracker stores the trackername as a String. JobTracker relies on a hack
(string parsing) to deduce the hostname/port information from the trackername. It would be
better if the slaves/trackers are represented by an ID and the ID provides certain APIs for
getting this information. Something like
> {code}
> class TrackerId {
> getHostname()
> getPort()
> toString()
> readFrom()
> write()
> }
> {code}
