Subject [jira] Updated: (HADOOP-2843) mapred.join access control is overly restrictive
Date Fri, 15 Feb 2008 19:46:08 GMT

Chris Douglas updated HADOOP-2843:

    Attachment: 2843.patch

This probably belongs in 0.16.1. Unless these are made public, one has no reasonable way to
add new leaf nodes. Originally assumed to be a light restriction, users of this package have
demonstrated that it is a immodest obstacle to the problems they hope to apply it to.

> Currently, most of the o.a.h.mapred.join code is package-private, permitting meaningful
extension only from MultiFilterRecordReader and JoinRecordReader. It should be opened up to
permit users to add operations not strictly descending from the existing hierarchy.
