stack commented on HADOOP-2166:

Does the Main-Class in the job jar you are running call System.exit? (The hadoop pi example
cited in the shell 'jar' command help does -- see PiEstimator#main). If so, there is little
the shell can do to.

> HBase shell JAR command kills shell
> -----------------------------------
> Key: HADOOP-2166
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-2166
> Project: Hadoop
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: contrib/hbase
> Affects Versions: 0.15.0
> Reporter: Stu Hood
> Priority: Minor
> After the JAR command runs successfully, it kills the shell, but any exceptions cause
the shell to remain open.
> Instead the shell should remain open in all cases so that it is not necessary to relaunch
the shell to rerun the JAR.
