Subject [jira] Commented: (HADOOP-1873) User permissions for Map/Reduce

Christophe Taton commented on HADOOP-1873:

Just a small warning: these kind of file access restrictions work under fully compliant POSIX
permissions. As it has been discussed in HADOOP-1298, the current design is to add permissions
on directories only, which would actually not allow this kind of restriction directly.

We could achieve this by inserting sub-directories to allow any access restriction scheme,
or else we'll need to redesign H-1298 to provide full-POSIX permissions.

> HADOOP-1298 and HADOOP-1701 add permissions and pluggable security for DFS files and
DFS accesses. Same users permission should work for Map/Reduce jobs as well.
> User persmission should propegate from client to map/reduce tasks and all the file operations
should be subject to user permissions. This is transparent to the user (i.e. no changes to
user code should be required).
