Hi Lohit,

The message says, "abcd\:efgh.tar.gz is not a valid DFS filename." because HDFS does not permit
special characters like colon (see FSNamesystem.isValidName).  This is not a parsing problem.
 If you try something like 
{code}hadoop dfs -put ./a:b ./ab{code}
i.e. put and rename the file.  It should work.
