stack commented on HADOOP-1720:
-------------------------------

Edward: Don't you think two quoting mechanisms confusing?

Also, thinking on it on my way home, my adding in parens around column names in the help contents
was retrograde; you and Inchul have done a bunch of work to move hql closer to sql. My adding
parens revived the old hbase shell syntax so rather its the parser that needs fixing, not
the help.

It looks like patch version 14 has the same issue as v12 in that the bulk of it is just reporting
difference in line endings (check it out yourself).

> We have defined the HQL (Hbase Query Language), which is a "more" SQL-like query language
for Hbase, for use in Hbase Shell. HQL is not intended to fully support the SQL syntax and
semantics. HQL, instead, is developed to make it easy to manipulate tables in Hbase through
the Hbase Shell command line, without using programming APIs.
> You can find more information about HQL in http://wiki.apache.org/lucene-hadoop/Hbase/HbaseShell/HQL.
