Subject [jira] Updated: (HADOOP-1053) Make Record I/O usable from independent of Hadoop
Date Fri, 02 Mar 2007 23:34:50 GMT

Milind Bhandarkar updated HADOOP-1053:

    Fix Version/s: 0.12.1
           Status: Patch Available (was: Open)

Another thing. I think the -ve integers fix should be made asap. This will not break any existing
code (because vints and vlongs are used only in serializing length of Text, and nowhere else
within hadoop.) Andd in any case, prior to committing the patch for HADOOP-941, the binary
deserialization of -ve ints and longs did not work anyway.

David, about the issue [3] that you had raised in HADOOP-941 has only been partially addressed
in this patch by eliminating some inefficiencies in raw comparison of buffer and ustring.

> This issue has been created to separate one proposal originally included in HADOOP-941,
for which no consensus could be reached. For earlier discussion about the issue, please see
> I will summarize the proposal here. We need to provide a way for some users who want
to use record I/O framework outside of Hadoop.
