Date Thu, 30 Nov 2006 03:24:22 GMT

Wendy Chien updated HADOOP-432:
-------------------------------

    Attachment: undelete12.patch

This latest patch fixes a few bugs, including the one dhruba mentioned.

1. when restoring a deleted item, create the directories in the path if they no longer exist.
2. handle deleting and undeleting directories correctly when the destination directory already
exists (and contains files or subdirectories).
3. check operation (rename or delete) succeeded before making changes to the bookkeeping data
structure.

> currently, once you delete a file it's gone forever.
> most file systems allow some form of recovery of deleted files.
> a simple solution would be an 'undelete' command.
> a more comprehensive solution would include snapshots, manual and automatic, with scheduling
options.
