Subject [jira] Commented: (HADOOP-673) the task execution environment should have a current working directory that is task specific

Mahadev konar commented on HADOOP-673:
--------------------------------------

I do think the suggestion is right-- only that it would involve changes to hadoop-streaming
and might break other applications that assume the current working directory to be the directory
where the unjarred files lie. That was the only reason I chose the current working directory
to be the same for all tasks, but it does seem ugly that all the tasks would share the same
workspace. I can make the required changes if people agree on it.

> The tasks should be run in a work directory that is specific to a single task. In particular,
I'd suggest using the <local>/jobcache/<jobid>/<taskid> as the current working
directory.
