Subject [jira] Commented: (HADOOP-537) clean-libhdfs target of build.xml does not work on windows
Date Fri, 22 Sep 2006 18:32:23 GMT

Konstantin Shvachko commented on HADOOP-537:

This is an orthogonal approach but I like it too.
In this case we should not have any clean-X targets at all.
Some more details on this particular issue.
The real problem is that "compile-libhdfs" creates temporary files in the source directory.
Sure they need to be cleaned, but they should not be created there in the first place.
I think this have already been discussed, don't remember where.

> clean-libhdfs target of build.xml does not work on windows
> ----------------------------------------------------------
> Key: HADOOP-537
> URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-537
> Project: Hadoop
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: libhdfs
> Affects Versions: 0.6.0
> Environment: Windows
> Reporter: Konstantin Shvachko
> Assigned To: Arun C Murthy
> It produces the following:
> Hadoop\build.xml:496: Execute failed: java.io.IOException: CreateProcess: make clean
> Besides, I would propose to have clean-* target for every compile-* target in build.xml.
> Some people probably don't build libhdfs or contrib, so why should they clean it.
