I cannot answer the bug question, but AFAIK you can let groovydoc use a different classpath. Something like

configurations {
  forGroovyDoc
}

dependencies {
  forGroovyDoc 'org.....groovy-all...'
}

groovydoc {
  groovyClasspath = configurations.forGroovyDoc
}
