I'm the one who added that section.  It's based on design decisions that were documented in
the release notes of each release.  As far as I know there aren't any tests to illustrate
this.  But yes, by "JVM Required" I meant the minimum supported version.  I'd like to avoid
making the table any wider though, do you think is clear?
