If you're referring to the issue mentioned in http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/groovy-users/201601.mbox/browser ( GROOVY-7705 ), I chose not to backport my changes because they seemed to be more of an enhancement to the static compiler than a bugfix. However, as I said in that thread, I wouldn't be opposed to backporting the changes if other committers think it makes sense. Side not= e: have all the bugfixes been backported? I think we talked about a bugfix = that was only on master recently.

If you're referring to the issue mentioned in http:/= /mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/groovy-users/201601.mbox/browser (GROOVY-7705= ), I chose not to backport my changes because they seemed to be more of an = enhancement to the static compiler than a bugfix. I just ran into GR= OOVY-7742 [1] that affects both master and GROOVY_2_4_X branches.=C2=A0 I m= arked it as a blocker since it may have pretty widespread impact, but I cou= ld be wrong so hope others will review.=C2=A0 Ran into the issue trying to = use master to build Grails.=C2=A0 There have been quite a number of fixes i= n both branches and so will try to do some more testing against the bigger = Groovy projects out there to verify.

The other two JIRA = issues marked as blockers have been around a while and so might be worth do= wngrading (i.e., don't think they'd hold up any releasing).

I'm repeating myself, but we really should releas= e 2.4.6. In another month the last bugfix release will be half a year ago.<= /span>
We sh= ould also release 2.5-beta, it may lack flashy features (beside the macro-s= tuff), but 2.4 was released over a year ago and 2.5 contains a lot nice enh= ancements and important bugfixes.

For the reasons Pascal mentioned, I think this deserves more attention= at this point. Is there a discrete list of things left to do?
