Renato Javier Marroquín Mogrovejo commented on GORA-98:
-------------------------------------------------------

Hi [~aspa],

Yes, this is a talk that Lewis and me have almost every time we start thinking on how to upgrade
the Cassandra module. I mean this issue was created in 2012 when Thrift was still an available
option for reading and writing data to Cassandra, although it is still possible to use it,
the Cassandra community is moving towards using CQL as a default way for this.
I think the time for rewriting this module has come, and we can just focus on using the Datastax
java client, and not just re-patching the HectorAPI every time a new feature comes, if you
know what I mean ;)

> CQL queries were an interesting new feature for Apache Cassandra 0.8.0. The initial implementation
in Hector deals simply with the single execute_cql_query thrift method and is largely intended
as a means to test drive query functionality and behavior, it would be nice to implement this
within Gora.
