I just discovered how to uninstall server adapters added using ‘Download additional server adapters’ on Helios:

The trick is to make uninstall aware of the adapter, this can be done by trying to install the adapter to be removed using Help->Install New Software…

Doing this makes the new installation manger able to uninstall the plugin (After the usual restart of eclipse)

When this is done the software can be uninstalled using the usual ‘Eclipse Installation Details’ route either via Help->About Eclipse

or the link on ‘What is already installed?’ on Help->Install New Software...
